The Fight for Good

Don’t think there won’t be a fight for good…for you or anybody else who wants to do/be/promote good, or just get better at life!

As the law of entropy states…’all things proceed towards disorder’, so is the fight for good…it has to be kept up, because like anything else, if left untended to it turns back to the status quo.

  • Example: Often after you have a good thought, something negative tries to surface and drown it out, tell you why it won’t work, it can’t be done, you don’t have time, it will cost too much money, no one will like it, it’s not worth my time, I’ll be made fun of, I’m tired, let’s think about it tomorrow, somebody else is already doing it…

…until we melt into the blahs of complacency and do nothing, but eat another cookie and watch another video. Side-tracked again.

No one wins unless someone steps up to fight. Yes, fight!

We, on our own individual level, are going to have to step up to the ‘fight for good’ in our own life, our family’s lives, our communities,  our country, our world.

Anybody can lay down and get walked on….there are lots of feet out there that would like to walk you down.

The good news is you were made to fight! You, personally, have been given all the strength inside of you to fight and win the war, your war, to be a bearer/bringer of good to your arena.

Don’t let the other side win!!!

***Today we focus on another fellow blogger Farnam Street https://fs.blog/entropy/  where I referenced ‘entropy’. He shares his knowledge of practical things encouraging us to think outside the same box everyone else is thinking outside of…so we’re not lost in the sameness of ‘comfortable’ , but pushing ahead to learn from great literates of the past. Remember, if we don’t learn from history, we tend to repeat it.

Finding Good

Sometimes you just have to go looking for good. The negative/noise/news can seem overpowering….nothing good in sight….

But Wait….!!!!

If I begin to look, with the intent to find something good…there it is!!! I almost lost sight of it, but it was there all along. I started to be pulled into the clamor and confusion of everyday stuff around me.  Just because everyone else was looking in the light of despair, didn’t mean I had to look that way too.

And so, what did I really see?

  1. A family walking together in the evening.
  2. The little boy laughing.
  3. His sister playing peek-a-boo with me from a distance.
  4. The trash man smiling on the job.
  5. The colorful sunset.
  6. The moon still watching over us even though daybreak had arrived.
  7. Birds at my birdfeeder….squirrels too.
  8. The thought of a good supper in the making.
  9. The new sale you just landed.
  10. Your kids came to visit.
  11. Your tickets were reduced.
  12. The plane landed on time.
  13. My washing machine doing the work for me.
  14. The delicious sourdough bread from the baker.
  15. Warm sweatshirts on cool days.
  16. Good friends who care for me.

None of the above really cost me anything…at least at the moment. Happy little tidbits of good I decided to look at throughout the course of my day. No need for me to waste valuable time and emotional energy on things not in my sphere of living.

I choose to concentrate on, look for, and magnify the good I see. If I can point one other person today to look in a good direction, to see something worthwhile in their life or even to smile (which will help them feel better)…

Then –‘Mission Accomplished’!

Join me on this very important mission.

Is It Worth My Time?

Everybody seems to have something to say and wants to be heard….including me… in this blog. The question is, ‘Is what they have to say worthy of my time and energy? What will the results look like?’ Face it folks. We only have so many hours a day. With all the clamor hollering for our attention, what would we really like to devote our valuable time towards??

What would help you and yours the most in that time? Yes we need downtime for R&R with no commitments, but even then make your R&R valuable and worthwhile. Why waste it on something emotionally taxing, mentally upsetting. Everything we do takes energy; use the energy consumption to ultimately strengthen you. Sure, you’ll ache after a long hard bike ride, but the resulting strength build up to your body is good. Stretching your mental muscles learning a new skill gives you greater peace of mind in future challenges. A light hearted comedy making you laugh, or a good book will do you better than ‘keeping up on the Joneses’.

Pick and choose what is best for you. Really best, not short term fix, but thinking ahead to what you want to think/be like.

Unfortunately, but fortunately, there is no “My way is the best way…everybody do it like this for perfect results.” Life is learning from others, but setting your own adventure, observing, thinking, planning, conferring with others, yet finding your own course. You get to determine what is best for you, not what someone else tries to tell you is best for you.

Become very selective of your input and you will be pleased with your output.

We’re all in this game of life together. Let’s win!…win back our time, win back our families, win back ourselves!

You are worth it! We need your best you!
