The Curtain

There’s an unseen curtain in life…like a stage with its platform and curtain.

Are we an observer or a participant? Do we watch helplessly and complain about the play we are watching…lousy actors, poor script, props and backdrop aren’t good enough. Or can we move to the other side of the curtain and become a participant? Can we offer our services, suggestions, manpower, whatever is needed to help make the play better?

Take time to learn and study what concerns and interests you. Learn all you can to make thoughtful comments and decisions about where you can best help. You are here for a reason – to offer input and help.

This big world cannot ‘turn’ by itself. God put us here with purpose – to tend the earth – utilize its resources, create, make worthwhile projects of value to the earth and to others. There’s a lot of acreage on our planet. We need to be aware and responsible for the ‘acreage’ we live on; to tend and care for it; to beautify it and build it up…keeping it organized. It is our responsibility.

Decide today to become a participant in building up your part of the world. Learn, read, study, observe, think about the past and how it relates to our future. Take yourself and family on trips around the world and see how other people live. Listen to them talk. Watch them cook. Eat their food. Immerse yourself in this beautiful play called life.

Don’t stay stuck in uncomfortable theatre chairs when the action is happening on the other side of the curtain!

One Size Fits All?

I’m not standardized! You aren’t either!

I don’t fit in! You’re not supposed to!

We are all humankind, male or female, yet we are unlike in so many other ways. What works for you might not work for me. I like country living; you love city life. I learn best by observation. You like the classroom. I like to get up early. You are a late morning person. I like talking with people; you’re more reserved. I am interested in color and words; you like numbers and engineering.

We need all of you. Every one of you and your likes and dislikes. We have a world full of people. You can help them. We all balance each other out.

Again, this boils down to discovering and accepting our likes and dislikes, our strengths and weaknesses. We can use this knowledge to help build others, to build ideas and see things someone else wouldn’t.

Don’t feel disqualified or tempted to find fault with someone unlike you. We need the unique contributions each brings to the table.

If there were no different colors, if all the trees were alike, all the flowers were the same, all the birds sang the same song, the food all tasted the same… 😦

Embrace who you are. Don’t feel you need to change to make someone else happy. Work on yourself. Be your best each day. It’s a growth process, but you will be rewarded. You will notice the change. Your gifts and talents will become stronger. You will become more comfortable with who you were made to be!

Prime the Pump!

Sometimes we let ourselves get stagnant, get behind, become dry, stale, things aren’t working…

We need to prime the pump to get things going again!

Back in the day when people dug wells and had to pump water by raising and lowering the long handle to draw up water from the ground…if it hadn’t been used for a long, long time, then no water would come up as you pumped the handle. So to get things flowing again, they had to pour a little water into the well (prime the pump) and get it running again. I really don’t know all the ins and outs of the process; however, adding only a relatively small amount of water to the pump resulted in LOTS of water coming out!

This morning, I was kind of uncertain what to do first, where to start…even wondering if I was capable! Crazy thoughts that come to us all!!

The thought came, ‘I need to prime the pump’.

There were still all the same talents, skills, capabilities, and ideas inside me, I had to get them out by priming my pump…just pouring a little water on one thing, one idea, one skill and bring it back to life, get it flowing again and I’d be off!!!

It worked! It wasn’t hard, all it needed was a little water and the floodgates opened!

Do you have one or maybe two or even three areas in your life where the pump needs to be primed? Take a look back at areas where the water has flowed freely in your life before and pour a little water on them. Get things going again. That’s all it takes.

The hardest part is lifting your hand to pour the water.

Let’s get started together. This world needs the waters we have flowing to sustain them.

Water yourself; then you can water your world.
