A Good Day!

Every morning at work, I make the statement, “Today is going to be a good day!”

Yes, everyone at work is going through daily family trials…nursing home and aging parents dilemmas, kid’s jobs, bad weather, not to mention COVID and the election.

But the sun is still out, and this fall has been one of our most beautiful ever!!! We have family and friends who love and care for us. food to eat, a place to live, fresh air to breathe, and water to drink, clothes to wear, a bed to sleep on and covers to keep us warm. We are provided for!

We have opportunities galore to make a new and better life for ourselves and others.

In the overall scope of things, this will be a really good day. We will be just a bit smarter today than yesterday, we will have grown and made progress in at least one area more than yesterday, and we will have seen things in a new light that we didn’t notice before.

So I will make my announcement again, “Today is going to be a good day!”

Say it with me!

Doesn’t it make you feel better already?

Thank God!

Driving home from the ‘Y’ after my bike class tonight there was a long freight train crossing the road.

Many people were turning around to avoid it, but I thought, ‘no rush, I’ll just wait and cool off some more under the pine tree’s shade on my side of the road.

My plan for the evening was go home, shower and head to the pub for my favorite…blackened salmon salad with feta and ranch dressing and their special Friday night dessert. Tonight it was homemade peanut butter pie!

Extreme gratitude came over my exhausted, sweat drenched self. All the good things I have to enjoy. I have a car to drive that’s paid for, comfortable home to live in, clean clothes to wear, good friends to talk with, the sun is shining, the birds are flying all over, family is close, a job I like. (Yes, I have lots of other type trials going on), but:

I feel good, and I’m thanking God who made all this beauty, who allows me to breathe and enjoy and participate in life shared with other people.

Some people thank the universe…but who made the universe? I choose to acknowledge God because he is a heartfelt, real being who hears me and cares for me.

Thank God for another beautiful day!

Help God! I Hurt!

For we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way, but the Lord has laid on Him the guilt and iniquity of us all. Isaiah 53:6

Yes, we’ve all wandered off into other pastures looking for the greener grass supposedly on the other side of the fence. We’ve headed off in our own direction to what appeared good at the time and ended up in a briar patch of prickers and thorns and bitter weeds and cockle burs. Now our feet hurt from walking on the burs; our hands hurt from trying to pick the prickers out and our stomachs hurt and we’re hungry from trying to eat bitter weeds.

Is God mad at us for doing this? Is He up in heaven trying to make us pay for our mistakes and foolish decisions?

NO!

Jesus Himself took away all our sin and iniquity and guilt. He was our scapegoat. He took away all our blame. We no longer have to look for a scapegoat or for someone to blame when things go wrong in our lives. Turn and look to Jesus. He already saw your need and took the blame for you. He is your scapegoat. He can bear it. You and I cannot. He is the humble Lamb of God, yet He is the all-powerful risen Savior who took back what we gave to the devil in in the Garden of Eden when man gave in to temptation.

Now we have been restored to fellowship with God Himself…our creator, the Creator of all the heavens and all the earth…The One who made Niagara Falls, The One who dug Grand Canyon, The One who directs the mighty Amazon River. We are restored to Him. We do not need to fear. God is with us if we are with Him. Turn to God and He will turn to you. Hide yourself in God from the trials in your life. He will cover you with His wings and under His wings shall you trust.

He will put His healing balm and salve on your wounds so you will be healed body, soul and spirit.

Say, “God help me today.”

He will say, “I’ve been waiting for you to ask Me.”
