In Any Land

In any land you have a mix of people. You have a mix of thoughts.

  • The positive thinkers the negative thinkers.
  • The good doers the bad doers.
  • Those who have direction and those who’ve lost their direction.
  • Those who have hope and those with no hope.

All these contrasts and differences; how can they work, live – even be together? We who are strong are to bear the infirmities of the weak, yet each man must bear his own load. How does this all work?

That’s why there are standards/guiding principles to help us live even when we don’t feel the best or want to do the best. I’m thinking of two right now:

  1. In as much as possible with you, be at peace with all men. You do what you can, and let the rest be, and continue on with your life.
  2. The Golden Rule: Treat others as you want to be treated. Again, do your best and leave the rest.

If in our little areas (our ‘campsites’) we abide by these guidelines, we will find ways to work together and meet the needs of others.

Let’s work together.

Government

Good government begins with self-government.

If we can govern ourselves, we will be eligible to govern (steward) others – beginning with our families, in our churches and communities. People will see we are a person of integrity, with wisdom and good morals. They will come to us with questions and concerns, and we’ll be able to help them or point them to someone who can.

This is how good leaders start. This is where good government begins. From the local. From the ground up. From the family – a small governing body by itself. From the respectful and responsible father to the thoughtful and industrious mother. All the kids get involved; learning to see what can be done and help. They become independent thinkers on the lookout for a good project to begin!

Self-government is one of our highest freedoms, leading to all other freedoms we enjoy and want to have. It is the hardest, yet the most needful in a free society. Great strength under control! That’s the real meaning of meekness.

We are a strong country, a strong people. Let’s lead ourselves through our own self-control to become what we’d like to see in others – set the example for our children, families and youth. .

Don’t let others dictate to you how they think you should be. You dictate through your life, your honesty, your integrity, your faithfulness to your word, your love for family, your willingness to help keep up your part of the world and begin to see the difference.

There are many followers. They need a good leader to point them in the right direction. Point them by your life. Give them hope for a better future.

You (me) be the change  🙂

THOUGHTS

This thought came to me on March 18, 2020….my father’s birthday.

He would have been 117, born in 1913. His father was born in 1863 during the Civil War. (Crazy to think my grandfather was born then. My parents married late and had us kids late. 95% of my relation marry late!)

We come from a long line of ‘thinkers’…always trying to simplify and solve things.

My daughter recently gave me a notepad with the phrase,

“What can I overthink today?”

So anyway the (my) thought was quite simple:

“Your best work is only a thought away. Think well today!”,

So with this thought in mind…what can we think about to improve…

…a relationship, a job, a task, a schedule, a project, a technique, a design?

What could we begin…

…a new adventure, a new hobby, a new product, a new connection, a new job, a new vocation, a new recipe, a new book?

Take your pick! It is only a thought away….your best work !!!

(keep thinking, keep improving, your work will only get better!)
