Consumers and Creators

We are both consumers and creators…gotta keep this balanced though.

Don’t let our consumptions exceed our creations. If all we do is consume what another has made and don’t contribute our own makings, we can easily become inward focused… and life isn’t as fun.

Somehow, it adds to our lives when we do things for others; make things not only for ourselves, but think how our neighbor, or coworker could benefit from some creation of our doing.

When I was little, mom had a book called, “Make and Do”.  I Ioved that little book. Whenever I didn’t have anything to do, mother said to go get the Make and Do book and make something. I’d get busy and my brother and I would make a frog out of a washcloth rolled up here and there and tied with rubber bands. or we’d make play dough and shape a bowl of fruit.  Or make something out of paper plates or an egg carton. Then we’d give it to somebody else in the family.

These were nothing special, but the feeling of doing something with another person in mind to receive it was an important growth step for us. It’s something to keep practicing all our lives.

Can you think of someone in your life to make something for?

Make it, and see how you feel when you give it to them… and they say thank you!

If You Want to Feel Needed…

Make other people feel needed.

Begin by saying, “Thank you.”

…to the trashman

…to the janitor at the YMCA

…to the bus driver

…to the check out person

…to your family

It will make their day, and their reaction will make your day…a chain reaction has begun!!!

We need what another provides. and they need acknowledgement for what they provided. It’s not about trying to get something from someone, it’s about giving worth and value to another person…that you sincerely need and appreciate what they are offering, whether it’s free or whether they are paid for what they do.

It’s a human to human connection—a bond —in the category that says, “I see you”, “I see what you do”, “You are adding value to my life by what you are doing.”

Today, let’s begin to appreciate another person, add value to them and it in turn will add value to us.

Welcome fellow Good-Finders!

Are you a good-finder?

God and good go together. When we look at good things, we feel happier inside. When someone gives us a compliment, it lifts us up. When we do a good deed for another person, it makes us feel better.

When you’re going through a tough time, be a good-finder… look for good anywhere… think a kind thought… help somebody…tell someone ‘thank you’… and sure enough, your attitude will begin to change and you’ll start to feel better.

Every day of God’s creation ended with God seeing it was good. His final day, after He created us, He said it was very good!

What if we begin to see our little worlds that way too?

Be on the look-out!

Be a Good-Finder:)
