Get to the Root!

Mom taught me, while pulling weeds out of the patio cracks to get the root!

If we didn’t get the root pulled out, it would grow back, and we’d have to deal with it again!

It’s the same in life. If a problem or dilemma keeps coming up, it means there’s probably a deeper issue. We need to get to the root of what keeps resurfacing. Let’s not be afraid – or keep putting off finding what is causing this in our life. Who wants to spend their whole life with reoccurring distressing stuff? If the root has been growing for a while, it may be kind of deep and cause some painful digging to get it out. Sometimes the taproot type roots send out smaller roots which venture into other areas trying to feed off us and they need to be recognized as well. Fortunately, when the taproot is taken out the other feeder roots will die off.

Then the body, mind and soul can begin their healing process. This process can take some time, so don’t get discouraged. New cells, muscle, skin, thoughts will need to fill in where the weed was growing. When a would heals, it is still tender for a while especially if it was a deep wound. It may scab over many times or leak while the body does its work flushing out the area. Take heart in the little healings you notice along the way. You will recover once you made the decision to get rid of the weed, and you will be stronger and better than even before! That’s how it works as we grow.

Today, I’m going to think about things pestering me. Maybe I need to pull out some weeds.
