Your Mind – a Reservoir

Reservoirs and floodgates. Store it up and let it out!

Our wonderful mind is like a reservoir that will store up whatever we send its way. All the good ideas and plans and thoughts, experiences, movies, songs, places we’ve been, books we’ve read…all in there!

I think that’s partly why so many books have been written. People have so much in their reservoir they have to get it out and share it with others. Essentially, they’re opening the floodgate of their mind and letting the water flow.

What we store in our reservoir is what will flow out. Thinking now about dams…debris tends to float on the top, it doesn’t go down into the turbines. That’s handy because the debris can be skimmed off and discarded. Other pollutants get mixed in with the water and won’t get filtered out but will come out when the floodgates are opened. That’s why some content is good, and some not so good.

Fortunately, there are water purifiers to help us filter out the pollutants. We can install these upstream before the water enters our reservoir to keep the waters clean and clear. Sunlight is another natural purifier which can kill just about any bad thing with long enough exposure. If the waters are very polluted and stagnant, a good hard rain and some flooding will clear everything out for us…maybe a little lightning and thunder so we can see and hear better what’s been getting into our water.

The object of the reservoir is to retain and release pure waters to help not only us and ours but others further downstream.

Do today:

  • Rake off debris
  • Check water filters upstream

Who Sees Who?

God sees. God sees everything!

He knows where everything is.

Sometimes I have lost or misplaced something, so I’ve asked God to show me where it is. Then a thought or mental picture will come to mind, and I’ll find it. Not always immediately, but it will happen.

He knows where every lost person is. He sees every stolen item or person. He knows where everything hidden in secret is hidden.

I am comforted knowing God sees everything. It’s also good for me to know this when tempted… to remember He is always watching.

He sees everything happening in the dark as well as in the light. He made the light and the dark.

Evil people may plot and plan in the dark and secret places, but even there God is watching. He sees it all. He knows who did what. Since he is fair and just, he will repay every man accordingly. He is no respecter of persons, but he does respect good versus evil.

I don’t need to worry about what I cannot control in others. If I keep myself in line, God will help me.

Do you think about these things too?

We are Curators

Oxford dictionary states ‘a curator is a keeper or custodian of a museum or other collection’.

Another quick google search states curators ‘also may research, authenticate, evaluate, and categorize the specimens in a collection.’

Reading from the NYT Licensing  website,  “News curation is the process of finding, analyzing, filtering, preserving and sharing the most relevant information on a specific topic…going through many different sources, choosing the best ones and then sharing these sources in an easy-to-read format…” https://nytlicensing.com/latest/methods/what-is-news-curation/

They are distilling from all the noise, opinions, viewpoints and other ‘fluff’, what really matters… collecting it, authenticating, evaluating, and categorizing it, keeping it, to present it in a useful vantage point for their readers.

We do the same thing in a multitude of categories in our own lives and families…collecting, sorting, analyzing, keeping, preserving and then ‘presenting’ to family and friends what we think and believe and have done. (whether it is a thing, idea or philosophy)

My aim is to be curator of good…any kind of good….helpful things, ideas, peoples, places…I want to find them, collect, analyze, evaluate, keep, preserve and present them to you.

We need to see them, we need to hear them, we need to experience them, we need to support them.

Good builds us up.

What will we choose to curate?

I will begin listing a few good websites, links, blogs, uTubes, etc. I curated and share them with you.
  • This beautiful woman, had her own interior design business and left it to start a non-profit redesigning and beautifying women/children shelters; equipping them with lovely sewing rooms to begin ‘crafting’ a new life filled with hope for them. Her home ground is the Detroit area, but her idea/mission now helps women all across the nation. She has a tremendous staff and volunteers there; however anyone can volunteer to sew needed travel size pillowcases, dolls, capes for kids…check it out. http://www.enchantedmakeovers.org.
