New to New to New

We’re not going to be stuck in our old. Everyday is new!

Every morning when we wake up, there is a new frontier ahead of us …waiting for us to claim! To explore, conquer, tame, build upon, improve, develop…

The past, your past, my past is over and we have today to look at. How do we want to see it? It’s only a thought away from what we want to let it become.

No one, absolutely on one can hold us to our past. We are free to break from it any time we choose.

Begin this morning to think and plan a new way of living, something very fulfilling.

There are no strings attached to your past. Yes, we may have some things to deal with, but the past is over and we have new choices to make, exciting times to think and plan.

The words on the chalkboard from your past have been erased. It is waiting for you to write new words about yourself.

‘I could never do that! You don’t know my past!’ BUT everyone has a past filled with possible regrets because we are all human! BUT GOD gives us the opportunity each and every day to begin again and start with a new slate, and tomorrow with another new slate and the next day with a fresh one yet again!

God has given us the choice to choose life. No one can take it from us, me or you!

Look ahead to your new day. Begin moving forward. There will be up hills and down hills, but momentum is gained with every step.

Don’t turn back or stay stuck in the camp.

It’s onward today, to the new, to the new, to the new!!!

What is my first step today?

THOUGHTS

This thought came to me on March 18, 2020….my father’s birthday.

He would have been 117, born in 1913. His father was born in 1863 during the Civil War. (Crazy to think my grandfather was born then. My parents married late and had us kids late. 95% of my relation marry late!)

We come from a long line of ‘thinkers’…always trying to simplify and solve things.

My daughter recently gave me a notepad with the phrase,

“What can I overthink today?”

So anyway the (my) thought was quite simple:

“Your best work is only a thought away. Think well today!”,

So with this thought in mind…what can we think about to improve…

…a relationship, a job, a task, a schedule, a project, a technique, a design?

What could we begin…

…a new adventure, a new hobby, a new product, a new connection, a new job, a new vocation, a new recipe, a new book?

Take your pick! It is only a thought away….your best work !!!

(keep thinking, keep improving, your work will only get better!)

A New and Different Way

I believe God has called us to a different way. Jesus said I will show you a better way.

In Moses day,  God distinguished Himself and His people by the way they dressed, what they wore, what they ate… that was how others knew they belonged to God. It was also one way God’s people would remember who they belonged to. It was part of their identity.
Since Jesus came, God said he was showing us a new way. He says people will know we are Christians by our love. No, it’s not by our address or how we wear our hair, or how much jewelry we do or don’t wear, or if we can or can’t wear fingernail polish, short sleeves, hats or beards. Those are not to be our identifiers. Our identifiers are that we show love to the world in the way that Jesus did. We overcome evil with good…we give a soft answer to turn away wrath… we become peacemakers instead of fault finders.

‘Why should I do something good for that person? They don’t deserve it, in fact they did something bad to me and they should pay for it.’ That’s returning evil for evil and will cause more hard feelings and nothing will be changed except the walls of hate and bitterness grow higher.

Jesus is the great reconciler who made us and wants us to be at peace with each other. Return good for evil even when it is not deserved. One quick look at how much we ‘really deserve’ helps us keep things in perspective.
Actually we’re all the same, seeking love, forgiveness, help; we want reconciliation, but we’re stuck hiding behind fears of abandonment, isolation, rejection- thinking if we can only get even it will fix their (our) problem. But it doesn’t work that way in God’s economy.
Jesus went about doing good, and He hopes we’ll do the same.
When we do good, were tapping into a higher strength than our own. We’re tapping into God’s power and He will do the work that needs to be done.

The interesting thing about doing good is: when you do something good for someone else, you always feel good too.

Who in your life today needs you to shower some good upon?
