Who Says I Can’t?

Can’t do something fulfilling and meaningful?

Can’t work on a job I enjoy?

Can’t be my best self at work?

Can’t speak out my creative ideas?

Can’t find people who like what I like?

Can’t find what I like to do?

Can’t live where I want to live?

Can’t make a change in my life?

Who said these things? Is it really true? Do I have to believe it?

…or could there be something better…some other way?

Am I powerless over my own life, to cherish and challenge it, to develop it and succeed?

Is it pride to think or desire to do these things, or is it my fears trying to hold me back…keep me safe…and from what?

Because if I hold back, not only will I be held back, but by my example I hold others back.

I believe we need to think forward and move forward, constantly getting better, making better and doing better.

They said the Golden Gate bridge could not be built, but there she stands…decades later, the result of one man’s turning others ‘can’ts’ into ‘I can’!

Where do we need to take away the ‘t’ in our lives?

ACCELERATE YOURSELF!

Tonight during RPM bike class at the Y…all glistening in sweat climbing up and down mountains, Lisa, our instructor, said, “Accelerate yourself!”

Accelerate yourself. That stuck with me, (didn’t have my notepad handy, but I remembered it). I think she meant for us to speed it up….more like a command. But there was another hidden meaning just below the surface…waiting to be thought into existence…

To move forward, to accelerate in any area of our life…we have to do it. We have to make it happen. It is our (my) responsibility to get rolling.

I have to accelerate myself!

…accelerate myself out of bed in the morning, accelerate myself to the right frame of mind, accelerate myself to get to work on time, accelerate myself to go to the gym, accelerate myself to eat right, accelerate myself to get to bed on time, and the list goes on and on in every category of life!

Sometimes, we have to get behind ourselves and PUSH! to accelerate in the direction we really want to go.

Do you need to accelerate yourself in some areas too?

Let us push together!

Light

In the beginning, God made light and it’s a good thing, because without light we cannot see anything.

God didn’t need the light to see- since He Himself is already Light.

He created the light for our benefit.

Light is to shine into the darkness and open it up so we can see what needs to be done and fix things.

What do we do when there is a power failure? The first thing is we reach for the light switch so we can see to call the power company to alert them of the power failure! That’s how dependent we are on light.

There are all kinds of darknesses in our lives and world today.

If we can shine some light on them…enough to see and understand what is really going on, we might be able to solve the problem.

Darkness could just be a misunderstanding between people. If the light can be shined upon it enough so the real issue can come to the surface and be seen, perhaps the solution could be reached.

But…!

The nature of darkness is hiddenness, secrecy and fear. Fear of what if someone finds out?!!! What will it make me look like? How will I manage? Will I be rejected by my people, by my family, by my friends?

What will happen if the darkness is exposed?

Well, then it won’t be dark anymore. It will be light and you can see how to move forward. Everyone will be seeing the same thing so agreement can be reached.

What you can see is no longer hidden so you don’t need to fear it anymore, and once fear has lost its power, the problem can be talked about.

Don’t be afraid…step into the light.

It is shining for you!
