Green Pastures-2

Music. If you listen in the green pastures there is a lot of music and song.

Every kind of bird has its own tune to sing. The spring-peeper frogs sing loudly together on a warm spring morning. Baby calves, goats, sheep, chicks all sing their own song because they are happy, or hungry or glad to run and play. Even the streams and waterways have a song.

We humans have a song to sing also. In our green-pastures of mind what songs do you hear playing? Tune in to the frequency of thanksgiving and happiness.

What I really hope is you won’t give up your song of peace, joy and happiness, no matter how you feel. Actually you can make yourself feel better by keeping a happy song in your heart all the time. If when, you get really quiet, there is no song playing inside, you might need to reconnect with your music. I had an aunt who was always humming quietly, no matter what she was doing, throughout her day whenever I got close to her, I could hear her humming. She was always at peace and I wanted to be just like her.

Some of us might be whistlers. My father and brothers, (even myself included) loved to whistle tunes throughout our day working inside and out. Many make music with guitars, pianos, drums, string instruments and brass.

Keep your music going. Don’t let other people quench your song. A merry heart will do you and others good. Joy is your strength and often it comes through your own song.

Can you hear the music now playing in your green-pasture? Turn it up and enjoy your day!

Absorb It!

Out in the flower bed yesterday examining a purple aster closely…

I wanted to take in as much of my garden as possible….take a good long look at the blossoms, touch them, remember exactly how beautiful they are before they fade into winter when I can’t see them.

The thought, ‘I want to absorb their beauty’ crossed my mind. Yes, I want it to permeate my mental picture bank…store it up for later.

What I focus on intently might be absorbed into my mind…good or bad…that’s a sobering thought!

BUT! I can choose what I want to focus on, to absorb into my mind and heart, and if it is good and wholesome, that is what will come up and come out when times are tough. It can be a strength inside me. It will be a compass guiding me back to better thoughts.

What do I need to absorb more of today?

What do I want? Will it help me become a better person? Will it propel me to do more good in this world today?

The Mind.

The Mind! Your mind, my mind the mind of mankind.

God gave us a good mind and the ability to think.

Noise, commotion and other voices shout in the breeze, hoping to land in your mind to make you think their way.

Don’t be tricked! Your mind is yours. Use it well to benefit you, yours and those around—to do and be your best!

This world, your community, your family needs all your best thoughts. We don’t have time to get side-tracked by things that will drag us down, rob our time or prevent us from becoming the better person.

Be like Santa Claus and make a list, check it twice whether those thoughts are of naught or nice.

It will be a present you give to yourself.

Make it a good gift!
