Don’t Fit In

Stand in your own outfit!

How many times have we tried to fit in to a pair of pants we really wanted to wear? They looked great on the mannequin….!?! Why don’t they look good on me?

We each have our own shape – physically, mentally, emotionally. Our likes, dislikes, talents are just a tad different from our friend’s. That’s why what they have/do doesn’t fit/look good on us.

I have to figure out what looks/works best on me! The right color, style, jewelry, shoes, bed, chair, books I read, job I accept…on and on. Stuff has to be adjusted to conform to me, not me conform to it!

You were crafted to be you, they were crafted to be them. We are on an individual basis….no production line here! This is a one of a kind artist’s studio piece being unveiled – you and I!!!

We need to be our own piece and bring our fullness to the forefront and really work to develop us.

‘It’s too hard 😦 It’s easier just to be like somebody else.’ That’s no fun though, the reward is in the labor, the satisfaction of a job well done!

What one area in your life can you work on to become a better representation of you?

You look more beautiful wearing you!

Delete, Repeat

Delete what’s not working for you.

Today I wore a shirt that doesn’t look good on me–truthfully I don’t like it, and when I bought it I knew the color didn’t do anything for me, but it was on sale…and I have since paid over and above for it. Twice I have started to give it away, but pulled it back– since it was ‘good’ and I got a bargain.

But I don’t feel my best, most comfortable, confident self when I wear it.

It’s going in the Goodwill bag tonight, I told myself! (along with a few other things in the closet—bought under the same guise!)

Why do I do this to myself? When am I going to learn???

Delete, repeat.

There are some things in our lives, physical, mental, or emotional that are a hindrance to being our best selves. Either they sap our energy, rob our confidence and courage, or just plain waste our space and time!

Enough is enough!!!

It begins today…going through my ‘stuff’ little by little deleting and repeating, until it feels right hanging on to what I have.

Do you need to delete something from your life too?

Why the Lighthouse?

I mentioned the lighthouse in a previous post.

What is it about a lighthouse that is so endearing?

Besides their unique structural stability and charm, they represent something else.

Valiant men have risked their lives and died building lighthouses to save lives…that ships at sea might not crash, be broken and sink because they couldn’t see the danger there.

Said James Ward Hyland III, President and Founder of the Lighthouse Preservation Society of Newbury Port, Massachussetts:

Lighthouses appeal to the interest and better instinct of man because they are symbolic of never-ceasing watchfulness, of steadfast endurance in every exposure, of widespread helpfulness. The building and the keeping of the lights is a picturesque and humanitarian work of the nation.”

Somehow, just knowing that someone cares for you, is watching out for you, makes life easier to live. We all need those somebodies. We all need to be those somebodies.

These characteristics in people are what make a nation great and bring out the best in each other.

Loving, Kindness, Courage, Care….Let these be found in me.
