Leaving Home

Some earthly fathers make their kids leave home at age 18. Ready or not, away you go!

Time to flap your wings and fend for yourself. This is needful to learn and develop independence many times. Some parents, in a sense abandon their kids after a certain point to force them to mature and make decisions on their own.

If God is your Father, He will never kick you out of His house. You will always be welcome in His home and live there perpetually. You can ask him any questions you have, talk with him about anything, show him things in your life, and he’s never too busy, or on his phone distracted from your conversation. He sees you and understands every part about you. He knows why we do what we do and why we don’t. He wants to help us understand things about ourselves so we can grow stronger, be more useful, have more peace and joy.

‘I can’t even believe if there is a god, that he would even bother with these minuscule things pertaining to me.’ Well, he does. He made every snowflake look different, but equally beautiful. Look at nature. Every plant has its own style leaf, bark, root system, light and water requirements. Each of us humans have tiny cells that we can’t see but hold things together so we don’t fall apart. If there is a god interested in the outward and physical aspects of us, why wouldn’t he be interested in the inward parts of us…our mental and emotional and spiritual qualities.

My hope is for all ‘us peoples’ to recognize and know we aren’t on our own to figure out life and death and how to make life work. We have a god to turn to, who wants to help and direct us for good. Have you met him? If you talk to him, he will answer and help you.

Loving People

How do you love people? You don’t even know them.

It begins in your heart. You see them as an individual like you, who has weaknesses and frailties, doubts and insecurities, but also has strengths and courage and opportunities.

It is our responsibility to one-on -one spark the strengths and invigorate the courage in others.

How do you do that?

Most of the time you won’t have more than a second or two passing someone on the street, standing in line at the coffee shop, but a smile, a positive word, a positive look on your face towards them… That effort on your part will not go unnoticed on theirs. Even though they show no response, it can seep down into their soul and possibly be just the strength they need going through a difficult situation.

You can make the difference in someone else’s life.

Rock Hound #2

Way back in October 2020 we were talking about rocks….still talking…

A good friend likes rocks even more than me! She had a birthday a few weeks back…what would she like for her birthday?

I remembered the piece of petrified wood found years ago at the Goodwill! and a smooth black stone from the Baltic sea…also from some years back. What a fun goofy birthday gift to give her. It was so fun to watch her open the present. They were wrapped in a paper bag 🙂 She loved them!

She told me the story of her husband finding a large rock with a stripe around the middle (reminded me of the Hampshire pig). Found in a farmer’s field they got a back hoe and delivered it to corner of her house where it is today!

How crazy is this affinity for a stone! We each talked of driving down the road and seeing a rock on someone else’s property and wanting it! I guess you can covet about anything!!

Well, we learned to keep driving and work with our own rocks.

For a ‘going away’ present, she gave me a beautiful smooth stone painted with colorful designs and hearts all over it!!! I just love it!!!

Often the most appreciated/loved things cost the least…just the thoughtfulness of taking time to learn what other people like and help them find it.

Life like this is so good!

What do you like? What do your friends like?

Can you give them some good?
