The God Void

There is a void in each of us that can only be filled by a spiritual presence.

We are a body, soul, spirit combination. We were made this way – to seek out – to wonder how we got here – what am I here for??? Just as a child is drawn to seek out who his earthly father is, so also, he is drawn to know the Higher ‘Who’ – the Who who started everything around him.

Mankind is terribly interested in genealogy…to go back as far as he can to discover his roots…to know the different countries and civilizations he came from. We want to know our origin. We want to know the first place. We want to know where we belong! What was the soil of our land, what waters did we drink from? What was our home life and shelter like? Where were they from???

These are natural normal questions to ask and need to be asked. We have a right to know. It’s a God given desire to know and He gives us the answer. He doesn’t want us clueless! So, first things first…in the very beginning. All the little creeks, streams, tributaries and rivers of humanity lead back to one pair – Adam and Eve. They lived in a garden. It was called the Garden of Eden, designed and put together by God Himself. For whom? For God? No! – for mankind – His highest creature.

The void we feel can only be filled when we know the answer. Who am I and where did I come from. Why am I here?

We are persons and God sent a person – Jesus- God in and as a real person like us to show us who God is. So if we claim Him, He will claim us. We will become part of the family of God.

The hole inside of us can be filled. We can begin to feel good about ourselves, get unstuck and keep moving forward.

What If I Wanted to Know…

What if I wanted to know but no one told me?

What if I wanted to know how to read, but no one taught me?

What if I wanted to know about cooking and finding good food, but no one showed me.

What if I wanted to know about exercise and working out, but no one would coach me.

This list could go on and on. Think of all the years wasted when helpful development could be happening in formative years.

What if I wanted to know but no one told me? … about God…

What if someone could have told me when I was growing up there is a God, not a religious god, but one who is real, the one who really did make the universe and all it contains, (including me), who sees everything and is watchful over me, who loves me, is truly interested in everything I do and think, who wants to remove all my guilt and shame, provide for my needs, make me brand new in my mind – free of worry and fear. Who wants me to understand how to do life on this earth, who wants me to grow up clean with no guilt-ridden past holding me hostage, who wants me to have meaningful relationships and even a family???

What if someone had told me, because I really wanted to know, but…

Where could I have been today?

Do not despair. God is still alive and knows just where you are. His name is Jesus and He wants you to be part of his family.

Talk to Him about you. He will talk to you about Him.

Today

Today much of the world celebrates Jesus showing death that it does not have the power it thinks it does over us.

Is there death in some area of your life? Mentally, physically, spiritually, emotionally, relationally with others? Jesus wants to, he has the power to come into that very area of your life that’s causing all the pain and heartache and overpower it…heal it!

We don’t have to climb 150 stairsteps, give away all our money, move or change our wardrobe. All he wants is for us to come back to him.

These can be hard words to read, we have been conditioned to see God as a hateful, wrathful, angry,  mean judge doling out punishment for our wrongs. That is not the voice of God. Jesus didn’t come to condemn or destroy, He was sent to free and restore…to give life…now in our current lives on earth.

Other’s words have spoken to us confusion, mistrust and cynicism. God’s words are helpfulness, peace, wisdom, truth, belonging, and care…true love.

Today, think about how you would like to be loved, how you would like to care for others and know that is God’s heart to you.

Today, give him the benefit of the doubt. Test him and see what good he will bring into your life.

It can be all new for you today.

God is good!
