Prime the Pump!

Sometimes we let ourselves get stagnant, get behind, become dry, stale, things aren’t working…

We need to prime the pump to get things going again!

Back in the day when people dug wells and had to pump water by raising and lowering the long handle to draw up water from the ground…if it hadn’t been used for a long, long time, then no water would come up as you pumped the handle. So to get things flowing again, they had to pour a little water into the well (prime the pump) and get it running again. I really don’t know all the ins and outs of the process; however, adding only a relatively small amount of water to the pump resulted in LOTS of water coming out!

This morning, I was kind of uncertain what to do first, where to start…even wondering if I was capable! Crazy thoughts that come to us all!!

The thought came, ‘I need to prime the pump’.

There were still all the same talents, skills, capabilities, and ideas inside me, I had to get them out by priming my pump…just pouring a little water on one thing, one idea, one skill and bring it back to life, get it flowing again and I’d be off!!!

It worked! It wasn’t hard, all it needed was a little water and the floodgates opened!

Do you have one or maybe two or even three areas in your life where the pump needs to be primed? Take a look back at areas where the water has flowed freely in your life before and pour a little water on them. Get things going again. That’s all it takes.

The hardest part is lifting your hand to pour the water.

Let’s get started together. This world needs the waters we have flowing to sustain them.

Water yourself; then you can water your world.

The Money-Tool

For some of us, (me included) we need to rethink one of the tools in our toolbox…..MONEY!

Dad was a cabinet maker with all sorts of tools in various sizes, shapes, types, and each one produced a result by the work of his hands.

He used his tools to make many, many enduring pieces which our family still has and uses today.

Back to money. It is a tool in our hands to be used to make and shape things.

This tool can be used to build structures, organizations, fund projects or fund your own family.

We need this tool. We need to learn how to hold it in our hands and use it to begin a helpful idea or venture… use it to grow and develop something worthy that another person started, but needs help with their money-tool…so we come alongside with our toolbox and help them out….think modern day barn-raising.

Money, like any other tool, is neither good or bad. It all depends on how the craftsman decides to use it.

Our world needs money, we have a lot of people with lots of needs. We need money (our way of bartering) to meet these needs.

Let’s all (me included) take whatever time we need to figure out how to use this money tool…get it out of our toolbox, sharpen it up and start using it to build up.

Let’s not despise this tool, but take full advantage of it.

Think together with me….have I been misusing this tool, have I left it alone in the toolbox afraid to touch it? Have I been letting someone else use my money-tool that doesn’t know how it works and diminished its value? The tools in my toolbox are my responsibility.

What do I need to do today to take better care of and get more use out of this much needed tool?

Land of the Free – Home of the Brave!

Often when we hear these words, we think about war and fighting with weapons for freedom.

Yet freedom of speech and the war about words was really what started it all. Human beings want/need to be heard, have an input, see worth in what they want to bring into life.

I think it’s an act of bravery to speak up for yourself in any area of life today…so much concern about political correctness, what would G’ma think, what will the neighbors say …’if I said that!’?

We talk about the status quo, but if we don’t challenge it by speaking out against it for change and improvement, that’s not brave and it won’t help our freedom.

I’m not talking about rebellion and anarchy just for the sake or proving someone wrong or fighting authority. I’m talking about challenging ideas and methodologies we’ve been ingrained with that are no longer serving us. They are extracting from us, rather than adding to us.

That takes bravery/courage to speak up and begin to question– so things might be rethought –and necessary reforms take place.

Just because, ‘this is the way we’ve always done it’ or ‘this is the way we’ve always thought’, doesn’t mean it is working for us now.

Use your freedom!

Don’t be afraid to think constructive thoughts how things, activities, processes, relationships, organization and organizations can be changed to work better, smoother, more efficiently, effectvely.

Learn to enjoy the freedom of thinking, and talk with others about it.

Be brave, start now!
