Don’t Give Up, Get Up!

It’s so easy to give up. All you have to do is do nothing! What more could you do?

But the law of sowing and reaping says that if you sow watermelon seeds, you’ll get watermelons, if you plant apple trees, you’ll get apples, and if you plant nothing, you’ll get nothing.

There’s a certain something about working for what you get that has a way of rewarding you that nothing else can. No free handout, no check from the relatives feels quite as good as obtaining it by your own two hands! God said He would bless the works of our hands, so we do the work, and He will bless and prosper it, to cause increase so our needs will be met…whatever need it is that needs to be done or had at the moment, whether it’s getting the bed made, your garage swept, your closet cleaned, or your  resume updated.

Of course, the Bible says, “the poor you shall always have with you”,  yes, there are some who are unable to help themselves for one reason or another and we need to help them, and feel for them, and pray for them, but for the rest of us, we can be confident that whatever God has given us capabilities to do, He will bless them and provide for us through them, and even have left over to help meet the needs of others….remember the story of the little boy’s lunch of fish and bread that Jesus prayed over and divided to feed not just one small boy, but over 5000 men, plus women and children!  And then they had baskets and baskets of food left over. Jesus was not stingy! Jesus did this twice to prove He cares about people, their hunger, their needs, their lunch, as well as their spirit.

If we can get a handle on how much Jesus really does love us, not only in word, but in deed, it will revolutionize our thinking and we won’t be among the ‘giver-uppers’, we’ll belong to the ‘get-uppers’!

Because if God will help us and grant us success, we just won’t want to give up. Once we get moving and start seeing good fruit developing in our lives, and progress being made by our own two hands, we won’t want to remain seated any longer!

Let the excitement begin!!!

Stay Fit! Stay Motivated!

God has a good plan for your life. He has a good plan for mine.

Reading in Galatians a while back, (I personally think every Christian should read the book of Galatians several times each year to stay balanced between doing works versus believing God), anyway I read how God sent Paul to talk to the Gentiles, (me) and Peter to talk to the Jews, so that everyone would have the opportunity to hear that God was interested in them, loved them and wanted them to turn to Him so He could lead, guide and direct them, so He could bless their lives and all that they did so the rest of the world would see there is a God in heaven.

I noticed it said in the Amplified version, (one of my favorite versions since it is so descriptive) that God ‘fit’ Paul, and He ‘fit’ Peter for the work He sent them to do.

Furthermore, it says He ‘motivated’ Paul and He ‘motivated’ Peter concerning that work.

Of course I had to stop and ponder that for a while to get the full meaning.  Here’s the verse so you can look at it too:

For He Who motivated and fitted Peter and worked effectively through him for the mission to the circumcised, motivated and fitted me and worked through me also for [the mission to] the Gentiles. Galatians 2 AMP

This is what I get out of it: God makes us fit, gives us the capabilities, strengths, and abilities to do certain things….so some things seem to come ‘naturally’ to us more so than other things, or to other people.

Then He motivates us: He gives us the desire to want to do something, or many somethings because He wants to have them done and we were made (fit) to do that job, i.e. It suits us perfectly. And so… many times we have an idea to do something great and good, and we think, “Well, that’s just me, that’s stupid. That could never happen.” And we shove it aside. When in reality, if it isn’t anything wrongful, it’s probably the leading of God on your life. So we just might want to take a step forward and see if God grants us success with it and if He does, then we know it was Him all along!

I’ve also heard we need to ‘give ourselves to our gifts’. In other words, after we find an area we are good at and it’s something we like to do, we need to ‘grow it’. Develop it, research about it, study about it, use it, get familiar with it– so we can develop it to the MAX, and get the full benefit out of it, so that many others can benefit from it too!

Think about it, and don’t be afraid to try!

REJECTION? OR REDIRECTION!

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I have struggled with rejection in various forms and ways my whole life, actually I think most people do. We all want to be accepted and cared for, needed and loved for who we are, just the way we are, while we grow, develop and mature.

So the other day, I was turned down for a job position I was interested in, and I decided to do something different than I’ve done previously when that would happen. I threw my hands up in the air and said, “Praise God! I may have been rejected for this job offer, but I have not been rejected by God! If God be for me who can be against me, God you are working all things together for my good!” and I smiled really big and laughed out loud. Nobody was there to watch and listen, but I felt better about how I’d handled that little bit of loss.

Then the thought came to me, ‘rejection from man is nothing to fear, it only means it wasn’t part of God’s perfect plan for you. It is a stepping stone to something better for you. Don’t give up!”

Driving home that day, still thinking it all over and still smiling and feeling really, pretty good that I’d stayed on top of the turndown, another thought popped into mind…

“Look at rejection as redirection.”

That made perfect sense. That took all the focus off me, and mine, and fear, and how come, and I don’t understand and whatever else you might want to think, and I saw it as…God has something else better planned and I was being redirected to that.

Try it yourself next time ugly rejection tries to attack you. Laugh at it and say, ‘Ha! I’m not rejected, I’m being redirected!!!
