‘I Just Don’t Care’

This is why we need others…why we need to be the ‘others’ who call or stop by to check on them.

Every one of us has down times where we feel like giving up. ‘Forget it! Not Interested! Leave me alone! I quit!’

This is where us ‘others’ have to be alert and step in. Call your friend. Speak to the co- worker. Stop by the neighbors. Send flowers to somebody.  Just say ‘hi, how’re you doing to a stranger’.

And when we’re at the place where – ‘I just don’t care anymore!’… we can ‘self-medicate’ by forcing ourselves to do something good and helpful for somebody else. Maybe don’t want to interact face to face but get outside. Sweep the walk, clean the garage, wash the window on the door, organize the junk drawer. Turn on some pretty music and light a candle. Make a cup of coffee. Read a good book and find something funny to laugh and laugh and laugh about.

These steps will pull us out of the land of the ‘I don’t cares’ faster than any therapy!

Let’s get moving, there’s work to be done, people to help and encourage and time is wastin’.

Stuck!

Don’t allow yourself to remain stuck thinking…

‘I don’t know about…or how to…’   You’re holding yourself back.

Part of the purpose in life is to grow and develop what we like, who we are and begin to share and help people. It’s so fulfilling to be on a path talking with others about newly attained interests.

So, what interests you? What do you want to know more about?

  • Different sizes of bird eggs and why?
  • Sunset times across the globe.
  • Which plants do better in the sun or shade.
  • Why linen is more sustainable and easier to grow than cotton.
  • Where can I collect rocks?
  • How do I mix a batch of concrete?
  • How to start a campfire?
  • How can I make bread?

Pick an area and begin to inquire more about it. talk to people, read online or at the library. Anything to get you moving again.

One of the best things is to go outside, get some fresh air, take a walk and let your mind be free to look at what is there and what you already have.

Let’s get ourselves unstuck so we can move freely in life.

We really can!

Try!

Try, try again!

The best way to conquer fear of failure or failure itself is to try again. There’s nothing like a fresh start to get you moving again…to get your ideas flowing.

‘Yea, but I’ve tried and failed so many times, I feel shut down and tired of trying!’

I had an old car. It was a 1984 Audi 5000s… butter yellow. Loved it! But sometimes it took many times to get started. One sunny, bitter cold day in Chicago, I was leaving my son’s and sitting in the car working to get it started. It was a combination of pressing the gas pedal, while turning the engine and holding it just the right amount of time until the engine caught. I couldn’t try too many times in a row, or it’d flood the engine, but I did have to keep trying. After a number of times it finally started and kept running and I was able to drive home. I knew it would start eventually; I had been through this a number of times previously. But I had to try. It could have seemed easier to quit and say, ‘It’s not going to work’…and then I couldn’t go anywhere.

It’s the same way in life in so many other areas. We tend to give up too quickly. We need to develop our tenacity…we all have it, but it has to develop from its seed form.  Really, it’s part of growth. Try and grow a little bit. Try and fail and stop and think. Try again and move a step forward. Then again until it works, and you feel more confident.

Have you given up on something you need to try again?
