Beauty Makes You Feel Good!

Have you ever noticed when you look at something you really like it makes you feel good?

I think God made us that way because it infuses us with power and strength just by looking at something beautiful. It actually energizes you!

Have we shut ourselves down under a form of denial…self denial or stoicism where we prevent ourselves or will not allow ourselves to look at and enjoy what God has made for us, and placed around us?

I think it honors God when we notice and appreciate and are grateful for the beautiful things in life he has given to us and placed around us to enjoy.

It’s not a form of pride, but like we as parents are happy when our children enjoy what we’ve given and have picked out for them, that’s the same way God is with us.

Don’t be afraid to notice and enjoy the beauty around you. Because really you are noticing and enjoying God, and that makes him happy!

The Discomfort of Comfort Foods

The holiday season is over and I am stuffed. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? I guess it depends on what you ate and how it makes you feel and act.

That sounds dumb! It’s just food!

Or is it? And is it able to nourish your body?

Don’t say anymore; now you’re getting into something personal, some might think.

My mother always said the reason many people didn’t feel well or had low energy was their bodies were not getting the vitamins and minerals they needed because they were not eating their vegetables.

Another thing she said about eating was ‘moderation and variety’, ‘moderation and variety’. I heard it many times. I believe it is the truth.

Mom was one of 9 kids, growing up in northern Illinois on a small fruit and vegetable farm that her father owned and they all worked hard to make a go of it. They grew up knowing what good produce looked like and tasted like. So they had the variety, and the moderation came about, I’m sure, because there were so many mouths to feed at each meal…not too many got seconds.

So today, when we’re down and stress is high and we want to pamper ourselves or someone else, too often we reach for comfort foods…delicious concoctions of salty, starchy or sweet, buttery flavors. I love it as much as the next person. They’re easy to prepare… or just order in- don’t even have to think about cooking. No need to worry about learning how to discover a genuine ripe melon, or find some fresh green beans, we’ll have our vitamin C in the tomato catsup on our hash-browns.

But…over time our body will begin to complain with aches, pains, low energy, skin conditions, organs begin to shut down, inability to concentrate for very long, and a general low grade feeling all the time.

Don’t reach for the medicine cabinet! Reach for the grocery cart and get some fresh food to put in your body. Take care of it like you would your car. Put in the right fuel and see how many more miles you’ll get from your day.

Come on…this year let’s take good care of our bodies!

You are worth it!

Antidote for People-Pain

There is a cure, a genuine–yes it will work–cure for people-pain. It is not easy to take, but after you start taking it, it becomes easier and easier and you begin to feel better and better!!!….literally you will FEEL BETTER!

I don’t know how it works, but it does…actually it’s because we’re wired that way, by God Himself Who knows just what we need.

Who would have thought…it goes contrary to all popular opinion and human reason. Yet it will work.

What is it?

Do something good for somebody…anybody, it doesn’t matter if it’s the one who hurt you…sometimes that person is long gone, perhaps even died, but we can still do good to someone and watch how it transforms us and others.

If we can just remember that– it will save us a lot of sorrow, grief and wasted time!

Instead of returning evil for evil, bad for bad, trying to get even, we start a new trend to conquer the bad, by doing something good!

If you’ve had a lot of bad done to you, or even seen a lot of bad done, you can change the temperature in your world just by doing something good….a smile, holding the door open for someone…(ladies there is nothing wrong with us holding the door open for a man), letting another driver go in front of you in traffic, baking muffins for your neighbor, writing a letter of encouragement, calling grandmother, even pulling a weed out of your neighbors sidewalk!

Doing good overcomes bad. Doing good multiplies good. Doing good makes you feel good, and there is nothing wrong with feeling good about doing good.

We were not made to feel miserable, but to have joy, peace and happiness in our lives. It begins and continues by doing good.
