Preserve Your Mind

I cannot keep up! Who said you’re supposed to?

It’s information overload. Knowledge of everything at our fingertips. So busy keeping up with the world we have no time to keep up with ourselves and our own families and communities.

I don’t think we’re intended to know and see everything. Why do we have to have an opinion on everything. Why do we need to hear everyone else’s opinion on everything and everyone? Our mind can only handle so much before it goes into stress mode. Don’t feel guilty because you aren’t ‘concerned’ about all the wars, death and sickness in other parts of the world. You are not being cold-hearted or uncaring. You are one person. You have your life and family and community. They are first and maybe only! We let go of much stress if we tend to our own immediate affairs and not jump on everyone else’s bandwagons hollering and waving concern.

There are many causes and needs hoping for support…your support. You cannot help everyone and meet all the needs clamoring for you. You need to say ‘no’ more than ‘yes’. Stay in your own lane and tend to your own – first and foremost.

Be at peace within yourself. Go outside and smell the fresh air. Look at all the spring flowers. Get a coffee with a friend. Sweep your own porch. Tidy up your place. Wash your car. Call a relative.

Let the rest of the world twirl on its own, while you stay in peace with your own.

The God Void

There is a void in each of us that can only be filled by a spiritual presence.

We are a body, soul, spirit combination. We were made this way – to seek out – to wonder how we got here – what am I here for??? Just as a child is drawn to seek out who his earthly father is, so also, he is drawn to know the Higher ‘Who’ – the Who who started everything around him.

Mankind is terribly interested in genealogy…to go back as far as he can to discover his roots…to know the different countries and civilizations he came from. We want to know our origin. We want to know the first place. We want to know where we belong! What was the soil of our land, what waters did we drink from? What was our home life and shelter like? Where were they from???

These are natural normal questions to ask and need to be asked. We have a right to know. It’s a God given desire to know and He gives us the answer. He doesn’t want us clueless! So, first things first…in the very beginning. All the little creeks, streams, tributaries and rivers of humanity lead back to one pair – Adam and Eve. They lived in a garden. It was called the Garden of Eden, designed and put together by God Himself. For whom? For God? No! – for mankind – His highest creature.

The void we feel can only be filled when we know the answer. Who am I and where did I come from. Why am I here?

We are persons and God sent a person – Jesus- God in and as a real person like us to show us who God is. So if we claim Him, He will claim us. We will become part of the family of God.

The hole inside of us can be filled. We can begin to feel good about ourselves, get unstuck and keep moving forward.

What If I Wanted to Know…

What if I wanted to know but no one told me?

What if I wanted to know how to read, but no one taught me?

What if I wanted to know about cooking and finding good food, but no one showed me.

What if I wanted to know about exercise and working out, but no one would coach me.

This list could go on and on. Think of all the years wasted when helpful development could be happening in formative years.

What if I wanted to know but no one told me? … about God…

What if someone could have told me when I was growing up there is a God, not a religious god, but one who is real, the one who really did make the universe and all it contains, (including me), who sees everything and is watchful over me, who loves me, is truly interested in everything I do and think, who wants to remove all my guilt and shame, provide for my needs, make me brand new in my mind – free of worry and fear. Who wants me to understand how to do life on this earth, who wants me to grow up clean with no guilt-ridden past holding me hostage, who wants me to have meaningful relationships and even a family???

What if someone had told me, because I really wanted to know, but…

Where could I have been today?

Do not despair. God is still alive and knows just where you are. His name is Jesus and He wants you to be part of his family.

Talk to Him about you. He will talk to you about Him.
