Life-5

Life grows in the crags, the rocky places, the desolate. Life is determined to live!

Even in the dark, mushrooms grow, the depths of the sea have fish with their own light bulbs that live, survive and make more life way down there….6-7 miles deep, as high as a mountain is tall.

God makes life, man makes death…what is the problem?

Man doesn’t think he can live or make things better so he creates what he is familiar with…despair, defeat, destruction.

But, there is a lightbulb which is always left on for us to see through the darkness of life if we look. Life wants to grow and thrive anywhere it is allowed. Weeds are the first to break up dry hard ground so better plants can grow. Moss and ferns take root in craggy walls and slippery slopes gradually breaking down the clefts with their roots to make dirt for more life to grow and survive.

Life is all about beauty and meaning and purpose and making more life wherever we are. That’s because God is life and makes and gives life all over. That’s why we can breathe and walk and see and enjoy our gorgeous earth.

To try and stop life, however mankind may try… is to thwart God and He cannot be thwarted. He is for us, He is for life. He is for you! and your life!!!

Just stop focusing on the death and destruction being loud-mouthed all over the airwaves and begin to focus on how you can start and continue bringing life to your area, your rocky crag, your below sea-level domicile, your parched ground and see things begin to grow and change.

You can be a catalyst for life right where you are!

How can I be a life-bringer today?

Let’s keep the lightbulbs of life glowing so others can find their way with us.

Can Evil Overcome Good?

Since when has evil overcome good?  Since when do we allow evil to overcome good?

Are we going to let ugliness, destruction, hate and despair take over our beautiful world?

We have a choice and are faced with it every day and many times minute by minute.  What are we promoting inside our head, watching with our eyes, doing with our bodies. Let’s choose not to allow evil inside our head, watch it with our eyes or allow our bodies – of which we only get one – to be used for evil.

All decisions to love or to hate begin at the lowest level…with you and with me. Then it travels to the family to the neighbor, then the community, the state, then the nation.

We can be the hater that spreads hate far and wide or we can be the lover who spreads love far and wide.

It’s no use, you say, there is too much bad stuff going on and what can I do?

Do good.

In fact we need to start a ‘do good’ revolution!!!

God himself said the way to overcome evil is with good. We often try overcoming evil by using more and more force against what we don’t want and then we become destroyers instead of builders. (that will be another title)

On a personal level, doing good to someone who knows they are doing evil has many times changed them. The evil doer sees a model of what inside he/she knows is good and really wants to be, they see hope and are changed.

I know the laws are there for a reason, but bear with my example. We are inundated with stories and pictures of evil doers and deeds and too often forget how to love and do good.

And our kids (the next generation who will be taking care of us…) are watching.

The kids are always watching.

Let’s get our cleaning cloths out and begin cleaning up our own lives and then help our families, our neighbors and then our nation. Let’s put some sparkle and shine and plain ole goodness out there for all to see and want to emulate.

Dirt is always trying to accumulate, but we are able to clean things good!

Let’s have at it…today!

FREEDOM

Today I was privileged to watch part of  the ceremony for Hungary’s National Day in Budapest. Hungary was founded August 20th 1000AD by St. Stephen. As they sang their national anthem the guardsmen slowly, reverently raised their flag up the tall gray pole. The rain was coming down steadily, but that stopped no one from joining in the celebration of their freedom. The band played and the people sang while the guards watched as the flag was unfurled. Umbrellas of every size and color dotted the crowds who watched from the grounds. The verdant grass contrasted its green life against the red, white and green color stripes of Hungary’s flag.

Freedom. What a privilege. What a responsibility.

As I thought about their freedom and the freedom sought in many lands around the world today that freedom is available to anyone, anywhere, anytime. God said, “Whom the Son sets free is free indeed!”

Yes, we can have that freedom if we choose and if we cultivate it. Freedom begins not in a certain land or place; it begins first in our heart. It begins with a simple choice. “I believe.” Our greatest bondages are in our mind and Jesus came to free us of everyone of them—big or small. God said He would give us a new mind and a new heart when we come to Him, but now we must keep it renewed daily, sometimes minute by minute, as our greatest enemy, the devil, tries to take over our thoughts and bring us back into his bondage. Jesus gives us freedom no matter where we live and no matter what circumstance we find ourselves in. He is our great deliverer. This is our privilege in Christ.

It is also our responsibility, because we and we alone have control over our minds. God will not force us to think a certain way and the devil is constantly barraging our minds with thoughts of hate, anger, destruction, doubt, fear, guilt, inferiority, unworthiness, but God said we are to bring those thoughts to Him and cast them down. In other words, flatly refuse to think on them. Yes we do have a choice, to think on the bad and the negative, or to think on the good and the positive. We choose. God wants to help us. We tend to think we’re helpless and too far gone. No, that too is a lie. Jesus is there to help us and gives us His power to overcome those thoughts.

If we are free in our minds we can be free in our bodies. Freedom does begin first on the inside. I believe all men and women really do want to be free, but there is a cost. True freedom is found only in Jesus Christ, and He paid the cost that we couldn’t. All He says we need to do is believe and follow Him.

And His truth shall make you free!
