God’s Healing You

We all need to be healed…healed of something – physical or otherwise.

God often heals us while we’re asleep…sleeping. We don’t realize or know He’s doing the work at the time, but so often that’s how it happens.

When my kids were growing up and got sick, I’d put them to bed and pray they would have a nice healing sleep. That has been many years ago. Recently, I was praying for one of them -all grown up now (unbeknownst to them); I’d prayed as I went to bed and the next morning the whole prayer came to mind again. I remembered them and remembered God, and a peace came over me that God was healing them (unbeknownst to them – they didn’t know Mom had prayed for them). Yes God, who made them would heal them too and He would heal them as they slept.

I guess you could say that’s how God sometimes operates on us to make us better.

It comforted me.

That sounds odd. What do you mean live life? I’m already alive!

Maybe, maybe not. How many of us are consumed in one way or another watching and waiting for the next bad thing to happen? We’re keeping up all right with everything except our own lives. It’s so easy with instant access to every event on the planet that we’re always thinking about what’s happening ‘over there’ and not tending to what’s happening ‘over here’.

We’re not ‘over there’ wherever that may be to you on the globe. We’re here at our own home, our hometown, with our own family and neighbors and friends. They need us and they need us first! Don’t neglect the ones in your vicinity at the expense of keeping up with the people ‘over there’.

Yes, we have a very important life to live, and we live it here – where we live, at our house with our family, in our own yard with our neighbors and friends who desperately need the real-life connection only those close to them can give. Right now, let’s forget all the charities we could be helping with ‘over there’ when there are ‘charities’ at home we need to — we must attend to first!

Charity is just another word for love. Let’s give ourselves first to our own to laugh and love and live every day. The news and unpleasant things will continue to happen, but our family and friends will grow up and move on and we will have missed living happily together if we’re living our life ‘over there’ at the cost of truly living ‘over here’ where those closest to us are.

Today, I choose to focus on living here.

It’s my life and I have options!  Many options!!

Do I want to learn how to:

  • cook
  • sew
  • refinish furniture
  • paint a room
  • carve wood
  • farm
  • raise chickens
  • milk a cow
  • ride a bike
  • become a barista
  • teach a class

You can! Nothing holding you back but yourself! We have libraries filled with books, free online classes and videos…I love using google and YouTube. We have friends, family and neighbors to learn from.

Why shouldn’t I learn more about what interests me? It’s not selfish. You already have an inkling that direction which means you’d be a quick learner. You could excel at it and then pass those skills to help someone else who wants to learn the same thing.

Doors will open as you step forward and you’ll be surprised where you could go with your new options!
