Calling All Artists!

Or hopeful to become artists…

TO:

Open your paintbox and let yourself out!

Open your toolbox and let yourself out!

Open your sewing box and let yourself out!

Get out your paintbrush, crayons or chalk Get out your measuring tape, hammer and saw. Get out your scissors, needle and thread and begin to make something!!!

Much of today’s frustration, gloom, depression, and mental ills are, I believe, because we are not letting our creative skills and desires out of the box where they have been hidden – afraid of what others might think of them.

People feel locked in… going nowhere…and they aren’t. We need purpose…even if the only purpose at the time is to open the box of your artistic desire and just begin!

Have something to look forward to every morning when you wake up. Go to the hardware store, the lumberyard, a greenhouse or fabric store, and take in the smells and feels and plan to do something with those desires and skills.

Go outside with your box of markers or colored pencils and pad of paper and draw the tree you see, or the patch of dandelions. No…your work will not look like anyone else’s (probably won’t meet other’s approval), but who cares? It’s not their work, their design or mental health that needs continual development. It’s yours!

Now get at it!

You need to make something!  … and

Others will benefit when you make things!

A Helicopter

Looking out the library windows I saw a low flying helicopter.

The magnitude of man’s brain; the capacity to think up, design and make something so helpful, complex, and needed as a helicopter!

WOW!

I think God likes it when we, his kids, make something, do something, invent, create, use and figure out how to improve things using the raw materials given to us from the earth.

In our own families, we’re so proud (rightly so) when our kids, and grandkids figure something out. We love it and encourage them on! When they build something, think up something, we’re excited for them!

After all, we’re made in God’s image to make things and do things as he has done. We hope and encourage our kids to make things and do things like we do.

Don’t ever think your ideas are dumb. Ideas are how needful things come about.

The helicopter probably started out as somebody’s dumb idea!

What are you thinking about in the back of your mind you’d like to see happen?

Other Thoughts

  • Keep your space looking nice.
  • Increase what you have to share with those who can’t yet build for themselves.
  • The poor will always be with us.
  • Take care of them.
  • Share from what you have, not from what you don’t have.
  • Help other people, reach them where they are.
  • Pull them up, encourage them, teach them.
  • Show them their value by needing what they can provide.
  • Encourage them to help others thus proving to themselves their own value and worth.
