Let Me Be Me!

We people can be funny! We want to be ourselves, yet we want to be like others.

The best way to be you…to find out who you are and what you are best at, is by getting out there amongst other people (might be scary to some of us) and see who needs help, and how you can help them with what you have. You’ll soon find out what you like doing, or not doing; how to hone it into something better, ways to improve what you do and you’ll begin to notice others who could benefit from your help.

It’s empowering to discover who you are, what you like and dislike, what you’re good at, and what you’d rather leave for someone else to do. Take time to discover yourself, and it will take lots of time…really your whole life. But it’s a worthwhile journey to see where you’ve been, where you are and where you’re going.

Don’t give up on your quest to ‘be me’. There will be many times you might not be sure and have to take it a step at a time. Life is a growth process for every single one of us!

Be on the look-out for you. You will find you. You will like you, and you will be able to help others. You will be useful. You will find importance, and you will be you!

Journey on!

Don’t Tell Me What to Do!

You are exactly right!

We don’t need people telling us what to do! We each have our own brain, our own will-power, can make our own decisions. So why are we letting other people tell us what to do? (Or why are we trying to tell other people what to do?)

Instead, we need to begin to tell ourselves what to do. Yep, that’s it! Tell ourselves what we need to do, can do, want to do, shouldn’t do, etc, etc.

It is so empowering to be in control of ourselves! So adult! We’ve given up the childhood stage of needing other people to tell us what to do, think, like, dislike; where to live, vacation, work; what clothes to like or not like;  how to wear our hair or not. We can be different all by ourselves without someone else telling us how.

We are free and we know it when we begin to live our own life, making these decisions all by ourselves –  for our best interest – that will truly help us and others to become better persons.

What do I need to chat with myself about today?

Be Important or Do Important?

“I just want to be important! Be an important somebody, somewhere, somehow!”

This is a backwards goal which will not give the importance hoped for.

What if we begin doing important things?

Important doesn’t mean noticeable, it means noteworthy. We want our works to be helpful and commendable, not merely eye-catching.

If I set about to do good work, it will be noticed by those who like or need my work, and it (I) will become important to them.

It doesn’t matter if I am important in the eyes of ‘the whole world’. Nobody can attain that status. All that matters is my importance, (doing important work) in the eyes of those who need what I have to offer. There will always be people who think what I do is unimportant and try to equate me with unimportance. But they are wrong. What they say about me is not important. My good work stands alone. It is important, and therefore, I am important – needed- to do that work.

Begin to see you and your work differently.  Even if your work is making teeny tiny screws to hold together people’s glasses….how very important is your work! Who cares if no one knows who you are. You know who you are. You are contributing an important component to mankind.

Think over you life and work. What ‘teeny-tiny’ work have you been doing that is important to somebody…(perhaps your very own family)

To do important is more important than to be important!

Now go – do important today!
