Be Your Own Teacher!

Little kids love to learn anything. It’s all new to them. Exciting! Adventurous! Beginning to ‘adult’. and they like it.

Don’t say, ‘You can’t’; they will try to show you they can 🙂

We (I) need to go back to this part of childhood again. Seek out something we’re interested in – or maybe only a little interested in – and find out more about it. Maybe it’s a new hobby, craft, skill. Some new subject – farming, gardening, woodworking or refinishing, computers, finances, a new language…even better methods to clean your house…investigate!

You be the teacher and decide where to start learning. Which book, which YouTube video to begin; who you might meet for coffee to talk about it. You will be the teacher and you will be your student. Yes, you will grade yourself. No embarrassing call-out in front of the entire class, “Jones! you got a C- on your project!” You will quietly tell yourself to keep at it, and you will get better.

I love that part of self-learning. Actually this was the method of old when kids couldn’t go to school. Twasn’t any adult education night class either. You found a book or neighbor and learned yourself.

Really this is empowering! We don’t have to wait on anybody else’s schedule to allow time for us. No need to procrastinate. Merely begin.

So first, what piques your interest? How could I become better in a certain area? What could I learn that would help me save time around the house? And then after you get grounded in your new study, tell somebody else about it. As you teach them it further teaches you.

It’s so exciting to take the power of learning back into your own hands!

What can you think of today, what’s going through your mind right now you’d like to teach your new student – you- about?

Begin! Now!

(Right now I am teaching myself Latin again…been a few years since high school, but this language interests me)

Don’t Give Away Your Power!

How many times have I let somebody else make my decisions for me. I gave them my power!

I have done it time and time again, and hopefully I have ‘learnt my lesson’ and can help you.

For me, too often I didn’t think I was capable of figuring something out, or ‘needed’ help, or didn’t take the initiative, or was (lazy) and thought I’d just leave it up to somebody else!

Yes, it takes work, mental energy to make decisions. There might be some research you have to do. Might have to learn something new. Might have to start something new. Might have to turn away from something old. Might have to give something up.

But if you get busy doing your ‘homework’ your mental strength muscles will develop and your very own personal power – given to you – will grow and grow stronger. You’ll begin to notice changes in your outlook on life. The gray areas will start to disappear, and you’ll see more clearly what needs to be done or changed or added to.

Yes, there is power out there. It’s kind of like a vacuum. If you don’t claim your power someone else will take it from you … (by default you gave it to them).

Hold on to what is rightfully yours! and like we talked about yesterday…stand!

Take your responsibility – part of your reclaiming your power – and use it! Claim it! Be thankful for it! Do all you can with it, and you will be given more to help others.

Stand in your own power!

STAND!

Stand Upright!

More than one difference between us and the ape family. They run around on all fours, but we stand upright!

And we need to stand and stand upright. Yes, we need to stand!

Standing is about strength, standing in your own power, the power you have been given as a human being to look and think coherently and compassionately; to see needs and meet them where you can; to encourage and build. (Interesting, but builders stand to reach higher and keep adding. Destroyers are bent over smashing things down. We’ll let that analogy stop there)

We have been made to stand. We were instructed to rule the earth and all its creatures and land and make good come from it.

We are not to cower back and down fearing the worst. There is so much good to be done. It has to be done! Who will do it? Only those who choose to stand and be strong…to stand up for their families, to stand for clear and clean values, to stand many times alone and be the strength others do not have.

The fight for good against evil will not be won by the majority. It will be won by those who stand and be counted!

Will you stand? What will you be standing for?

Stand! Stand upright!! Stand strong!!!
