Hanging on By a Thread…

Don’t cut the thread! Don’t give up on yourself!

“A bruised reed He will not break, and smoking flax He will not quench; He will bring forth justice for truth.” *

Even God, Himself won’t cut the thread or give up on you. He is for all of us underdogs. We who have tried and failed and tried and failed, sometimes given up but still trying.

You have worth and value inherently inside you because you were made in the image of God. Don’t believe anyone who tells you there is no value in you, or you have no place or aren’t needed and have nothing to offer. God did not say that about you and his word is tops!

He will never tell you you’ve gone too far, made too many mistakes and are unfixable. He can mend your life. He can mend your family. He can mend your friends. That’s what he does. He just needs your permission.

Tell Him about your thread…

*Isaiah 42:3 NKJV

You Are a Builder

What are you building? Are you building anything today?

We are all builders…building something. Will it last? Is it sturdy to withstand pressure and use? Can others benefit from it? If it’s just for me, will it be good for me?

Sometimes it’s hard to build. Really anything worthwhile is hard work. It takes a lot of thought, patience, looking at it again. Maybe taking it all apart and starting over – like I had to do so many times learning to sew. Even in writing. The words don’t come out right. They don’t say what you meant. The computer didn’t save it, you lost everything and had to start over…happened twice yesterday.  You have to begin an exercise program to stay fit after desk sitting for 10 years or start a particular therapy to recover from an injury…like after I fell off my bike.

Maybe it’s an internal build. You’re trying to develop a new mental habit or break an old one.

The important thing is that you continue to build. Some projects take lots longer than others. Sometimes you have to stop, rest and think about it.

Keep at it. You will have something rewarding after it’s completed, and you can be proud of it!

I will carry-on.

Who Do I Want to Become?

Lots of talk – even in my talk. Who am I? Where am I going? What should I do?

I think our first question should be – who do I want to become? This will open the door to see where we are going, what direction to take.

Look at your present state as your starting place – not a permanent situation you are always trying to escape from. See it as the start. Like in a race, the gate is behind you. The whole lane, field, world is ahead of you waiting for you to run through it and to it.

The ‘being’ will lead to the ‘doing’.

Once we decide who we want to be, we can figure out the steps we need to take…the path to get on…the lane to drive in… what exits to get off or on.

Again, this takes self-introspection. You are unique. Each of us are. We have to assess our likes, dislikes, skills, talents, abilities. We have to take notice of ourselves. Not in a comparative way, but in a curious way. What do I have to bring value to this world? How am I crafted?

This is not being selfish. This is part of self-development and necessary for growth.

Right now I’m thinking of horse whisperers. The whisperer has to go quietly and slowly around the horse to understand it and for the horse to understand them.  There is a lot of listening involved. This is how they begin their communication. Time. Patience. Listening. Observing. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.

We need to do this with ourselves. Tune out everybody, everything and learn how you’re crafted…not what someone else tries to tell us how you’re made. Too often others try to tell you how you should be when they themselves don’t know who they are or what they are doing. Don’t fall for letting another person manage your life!

What is one aspect I want more to become?
