I Love My Life

First of all, I’ve been through a lot of deep and dark valleys, but there have always been sunny skies and mountain tops on the horizon.

We’ve just got to look!

One deep dark valley was so awful, the kids were all little and I was faced with a choice…either fall down in the mire of self- pity or look for ways to help others. It was my decision.

A good friend came over to visit. I fixed all of us a nice lunch (meatball stew, leafy salad with capers, and fruit salad with orange sauce). I wanted to make it really fun for her, they didn’t have a lot back then. We had a nice time together, she and I, while watching our kids play. As they were packing up to go she said she came over intending to encourage me, but she was encouraged instead.

That made my day too!

There will always be something bright to focus on instead of troubles. Doing something good is one of the best ways.

Rearrange your closet, organize the kitchen junk drawer, vacuum out your car, wash all your mirrors, sweep the sidewalk, pick a few grasses and flowers for a bouquet. Pour some coffee and sit near your window to watch the birds. Plan a new craft project.

I love that about life! No matter how gloomy or glum things seem, I am free to think of — and will find something to do that lifts my spirits.

A merry heart does good like medicine, God said.

It really is that simple.

What do you choose to think about today?

Love your life!!!

New to New to New

We’re not going to be stuck in our old. Everyday is new!

Every morning when we wake up, there is a new frontier ahead of us …waiting for us to claim! To explore, conquer, tame, build upon, improve, develop…

The past, your past, my past is over and we have today to look at. How do we want to see it? It’s only a thought away from what we want to let it become.

No one, absolutely on one can hold us to our past. We are free to break from it any time we choose.

Begin this morning to think and plan a new way of living, something very fulfilling.

There are no strings attached to your past. Yes, we may have some things to deal with, but the past is over and we have new choices to make, exciting times to think and plan.

The words on the chalkboard from your past have been erased. It is waiting for you to write new words about yourself.

‘I could never do that! You don’t know my past!’ BUT everyone has a past filled with possible regrets because we are all human! BUT GOD gives us the opportunity each and every day to begin again and start with a new slate, and tomorrow with another new slate and the next day with a fresh one yet again!

God has given us the choice to choose life. No one can take it from us, me or you!

Look ahead to your new day. Begin moving forward. There will be up hills and down hills, but momentum is gained with every step.

Don’t turn back or stay stuck in the camp.

It’s onward today, to the new, to the new, to the new!!!

What is my first step today?

Find Your Style

We constantly have voices from our past telling us, reminding us, persuading us who we should be, what we should say, how we need to write.

Back in ye old English class, we learned all the correct phraseology, when to use this word and that comma, and don’t use contractions, it’s not formal, etc., etc., etc.

BUT as we adult on in life, we develop our own style to something that fits our personality, our family, our peoples.

I have to fight against those voices everytime I put hand to keyboard.

…what I should, how I should, would Mrs. Bach, my senior composition teacher, like me to write, vs what I want to convey.

My original goals for this blog were:

…be myself

…encourage people

…bring something good and uplifting

…cause people to think

…don’t sound religious

…don’t write like an English major

…not too many words

That’s my style so far.

What’s yours?
