Plan Your Life

Yes! You plan your very own life!

Examine your life, your needs, responsibilities, wishes, dreams, family and begin to plan how to do things better. Consider how to grow and learn about what you are already doing and how to do things better.

Time yourself in your daily tasks – not so they can be done more quickly, but so you can expect how long it will take in your daily routine.

Think about:

  • What do I want to do right now?
  • What do I want to be doing tomorrow?
  • What do I want to know more about?
  • What do I find interesting?
  • Where would I like to volunteer and help?

How can I do better…

  • with my family
  • organizing my house, kitchen, bedroom, desk, car
  • keeping up with day to day at work, at school, with homework and personal studies

These may seem like insignificant items, but they are clues how to manage your own life for your good.

I don’t believe living our own life with our own values, likes and dislikes should be hard to figure out. It becomes hard when we begin thinking how other people think we should live them.

Plan a good life for you and begin living it!

Thoughtful Thoughts

So much going on – inside my head!

So many thoughts – the more I listen to others’ thoughts, the more thoughts there are inside my head!

It occurred to me thoughts can be like weeds springing up seemingly out of nowhere. Some don’t need any water; they just appear and grow in the garden of my mind.

I’ve got to tend my garden, or the crabgrass will overtake me – sending tentacle claws every direction – rooting down causing many other growth thoughts to have to be weeded. But I am the gardener of my mind, and I must do the work. I am the only one that can. Others may tell me what to think, yet I am the master – the controller of my mind. I am not powerless over myself, but it takes control – me controlling me!…pulling out or chopping down one weed at a time, one leg of crabgrass rooted here, one baby thistle getting started there – ‘but wait! thistle flowers are so pretty, and they smell good too!’ But their thorns are very sharp, and they grow tall and strong and will take over.

The sun is coming up now and I must be busy tending the garden of my mind. What am I going to listen to – or not listen to?…to keep the weeds down and allow room for the real crops I wish to grow.

Manners

‘Who are you to talk to me about manners?? I’ll do what I want!’

‘That’s old-fashioned malarky! Times have changed! We’re progressive! Anyway, who cares? I’m free. It’ my life, my space, my place, and I know I’m right anyway!’

So, we push, and we shove, and we ignore, overlook, disrespect, step on and drive over anybody in our path. And don’t we like it when others do unto us as we have done unto them??

That’s why manners came about. So people like us in our hurry and thoughtlessness don’t ignore, overlook, disrespect, step on and drive over those who don’t cooperate according to our schedule.

Let’s take a look at the last 24 hours – the last 2 hours…where could we have been a bit better person to another person? We’re all in life together. We’ve all got family, job, career, neighbors, other drivers, clerks, even ourselves trying to get stuff done.

Maybe if we each just pause before we say and do, or think that mean thought…where are my manners? Do I hope to be treated like I’m about to treat them?

And our kids are watching…

We all in our heart of hearts want to become better people.

Let’s not disappoint ourselves.
