You! Think!!!

So often we are told what to think instead of being encouraged to think!

You have been given a good sound mind. You have many, many good ideas and plans inside of you waiting to be thought about and brought to pass.

Are we afraid of ourselves? Afraid to let our mind wander into new dimensions different than what we’re accustomed to?

I’m not talking about freaky-stuff thinking, but sometime just turn off the TV, the uTube, and let your own mind think something good, something you would like to think about but were maybe afraid to think into…

Sometimes, I fall for the trap where I get so involved in what other people are saying about a particular area of interest, that I stop thinking for myself… how to solve it, how to make it better… and instead listen to everyone else’s thoughts. Then my mind gets all frazzled what to do. I have to stop, and come out of that cloud into the clearing of my own thoughts.

We let ourselves develop patterns of behavior by allowing other sources to tell us what we should be thinking, what we should be doing, how to spend our time…what if we want to think and do something differently?

It is not wrong to think differently, to have a new idea, to want something apart from the status quo, to question what you’re doing or being told to do. That is part of our individual God-given autonomy.

Many great thinkers have turned into great doers.

The other side of the ‘thinking coin’ is some/too many are afraid of letting others think or voice their opinions/ideas. They fear change, loss of control, power, prestige. Their own insecurities try to quell the impact of another. Don’t give them that right over you.

What have I wanted to think about, but didn’t because I was afraid, or didn’t think I could, or should, or somebody might not approve?

Chart your course, begin to think for yourself again!

The Idea Chain

How is a chain made? One link at a time.

How is anything else made? One idea at a time.

Ideas, thoughts, are like links in a chain. You can make the chain any length you want, you can make the links any size or thickness you like, and you can use any material you desire…either from what you already have or from something completely new.

Some chain links are made round, others rectangular, some oval or twisted.

Some links need to be very strong and are soldered closed. Others are merely closed so more links may be added.

The strength of your idea will determine the strength of your chain. Some chains are longer and some only need a dozen or so links.

Your idea will determine all of that and often you won’t know quite what you need until you begin to make it.

The important thing is to begin. See where your idea leads, what links can be added, when you need to take some away. Ideas like chains can change directions. A flexible chain can be twisted this way and that as your idea develops.

Chains are not rigid like a steel girder. They are meant to move in any direction needed.

Begin your idea. That is the first link and will get the process started. It may take a little longer sometimes to make subsequent links, to get them all shaped and attached, but keep going. So many good things have happened even with a hesitancy to start, or from a ‘blunder’ in the middle.

Get the idea out into the open – into the light to see which direction you want to go. Keep thinking, keep experimenting, talk about it with others. Link by link your chain idea will grow until you can use it to pull along more.

After that chain is finished…begin a new one!

Let your life become a fun game…building, making, helping, doing, thinking…repeat, repeat, repeat.

…my first link will be…

The Next Great Awakening

I believe the next great awakening is OUR  great awakening!

We, as individuals, are waking up…to re-see ourselves for the potential and content within us, the value we have, the contributions we can make…beginning in our sphere of influence – family, neighborhood, community.

We are starting to get a glimpse – we are more than just a cog in the wheel, a soldier in an army, a person under somebody else’s command who has no mind of their own, but only does what they are told.

We are realizing we do have value to bring to the table. We do have good ideas worth pursuing and sharing; that other people need our ideas to help improve what they are doing.

This is not a prideful way, but a manner of contributing to our world – of which we all are a part.

No, not everyone will agree or see things the way we do, but we still must keep moving forward; thinking the next best thought and striving to develop it.

What glimpses in your life are you getting you hadn’t seen before? What changes would you like to make happen? How could you do things differently?

Let your mind think beyond your current ‘now’, and allow yourself to seriously contemplate a new and different future.
