Whether you realize it or not, someone is following you, someone is watching you. That makes you a leader.
Some little boy is looking at you and your actions. Some little girl is looking at you and your actions. They are listening to your every word.
You are a leader – setting an example, whether for good or bad, for others to be just like you:
- while you are driving your car
- waiting in the drive up window line
- at the cash register
- when you are talking on the phone
- how you talk to your family
- how you take care of your possessions
- how you take care of another person’s possessions
- how you manage at your job
- what kind of work you do
- how you dress yourself
- how you take care of yourself
We are all leading because someone is always following – even if we never see them. Make what you do and say something worth causing another to follow your example.
Don’t let yourself get away with bad behavior or making bad decisions thinking ‘well everyone else is doing this’, or ‘it’s just this one time only’.
No, you be the bigger person. Be the good leader. The kind of leader you in your heart of hearts would want to follow.
