I am for you! That’s an example of one for one.
All it takes is for one person to speak something good into another person’s life – to believe in their personhood – to change them and propel them on to be/do great things.
We all have weak areas and insecurities, especially in our growing up years and into the turbulent teens; however it only takes one teacher, one parent, one good friend, one sibling, aunt or uncle to say to us, “You are really good at reasoning things out; you can remember things easily; you handle yourself well in speech class; you seem to understand math or mechanics really well; your drawings are so clear; you are so good growing plants; everything you bake/cook tastes good!”
When tough times and doubts arise, we can recall what was said about us and think, ‘Yeah, but I’m pretty good at this, it doesn’t matter what others say, I know I’m going to be okay. I have good ideas…just wait and see!”
Those seemingly small one to one conversations, putting in and pulling out of us greater than we thought or imagined kept us moving forward.
Where can you have a small ‘one-for-one’ of importance with a young person today?
