Hurricane Ian came to the coast of Florida where my daughter lives.
I live in a northern state of the continental USA far away from Florida.
The weatherman lives in eastern KY. He has made it his mission to keep the general public informed quickly, without a bunch of time-lapse or unnecessary approval. He is well studied, and truly wants to help keep people safe and informed about bad weather. He has a team of 3 schooled meteorologists and quite a few storm chasers to help track down the weather.
I stayed pretty much glued to his channel during the entire hurricane event, wearing down my phone battery twice. His YouTube channel now has thousands of subscribers, and during the live tracking his online chat allowed thousands of questions about the storm, how it might affect different areas of loved ones in its path, helpful information etc. The dialogue which was enabled showed what a beautiful thing it was for that many people to come together to learn and help for a common good.
Seeing the heart and soul poured out by him and his team…all working together…some endangering themselves to help us, was a magnificent example of what can happen when people figure out what they like doing, decide where they can be most helpful, and open themselves up to new ways of doing things.
How freeing can this be???
Topping it all off, he received citizen of the year award from the Southeast KY Chamber of Commerce this Wednesday September 28, 2022.
Please listen to his acceptance message. It shows the heart of a true servant.
