Finding Good

Sometimes you just have to go looking for good. The negative/noise/news can seem overpowering….nothing good in sight….

But Wait….!!!!

If I begin to look, with the intent to find something good…there it is!!! I almost lost sight of it, but it was there all along. I started to be pulled into the clamor and confusion of everyday stuff around me.  Just because everyone else was looking in the light of despair, didn’t mean I had to look that way too.

And so, what did I really see?

  1. A family walking together in the evening.
  2. The little boy laughing.
  3. His sister playing peek-a-boo with me from a distance.
  4. The trash man smiling on the job.
  5. The colorful sunset.
  6. The moon still watching over us even though daybreak had arrived.
  7. Birds at my birdfeeder….squirrels too.
  8. The thought of a good supper in the making.
  9. The new sale you just landed.
  10. Your kids came to visit.
  11. Your tickets were reduced.
  12. The plane landed on time.
  13. My washing machine doing the work for me.
  14. The delicious sourdough bread from the baker.
  15. Warm sweatshirts on cool days.
  16. Good friends who care for me.

None of the above really cost me anything…at least at the moment. Happy little tidbits of good I decided to look at throughout the course of my day. No need for me to waste valuable time and emotional energy on things not in my sphere of living.

I choose to concentrate on, look for, and magnify the good I see. If I can point one other person today to look in a good direction, to see something worthwhile in their life or even to smile (which will help them feel better)…
